Cavendish 2021 - 2022

Miss Bellis

Welcome to Cavendish Class;  the home of Year 5 and 6!

This term our topic is 'Imprisoned'. We will be learning about the Atlantic Slave Trade and exploring a variety of Historical sources.

Our topics this term will be based on two books: Henry's Freedom Box by Ellen Levine and Hansel and Gretel by Neil Gaiman. Both texts will drive our learning as we explore the theme of imprisonment and the Slave Trade.

Cavendish PE Sessions

This year PE will be on a Monday and Tuesday afternoon. Swimming will be on Friday mornings on a fortnightly basis.

Cavendish Forest School Sessions

The children will be enjoying Forest School every Wednesday afternoon - don't forget your waterproofs!

Home Learning
Not less homework; just different homework. Times tables Rockstars and reading every night as a minimum. Children should try to complete a comprehension activity from their Reading Diary each week. Reading Diaries will be monitored weekly. Spellings will be uploaded on the spelling page to learn and tested on Fridays.

Additional (optional) maths homework will also be uploaded to this page each week.

Year 6 SATs Preparation

Our Year 6 children will also start getting some SATs preparation material to start working on at home - previous Year 6 groups have found these to be extremely beneficial!
