Nurturing Children in a Christian Environment to Achieve Excellence

Welcome to Grosvenor Class Years 2 and 3

Welcome back to the Grosvenor Class. This is a new adventure for all of us in the class and I am really looking forward to working together with the children and parents of years 2 and 3.

Things will be a little different for us all this year, remember we now finish at 3:25. PE will be on a Monday with Mrs Tait and on Thursday with Mr Harrison and myself. Mr Harrison is a professional coach who we welcome to our school. He will be leading and coaching in PE as well as running a lunchtime football club for years 3 and 4.

Our topic will have an overview for the whole year called "Famous for more than 5 Minutes." Grosvenor class will be looking at Explorers this term as well as Medicine makers and Sportsmen and Women in the coming terms.

Just to clarify the system in Grosvenor class. Children need their reading diary and their current book(s) every day. This enables me to add guided reading notes and monitor how the children are getting on.

Books will usually be changed on Monday and Thursday for Year 2 and during their guided reading sessions for Year 3. The children will get a new Bug Club book and a basket book if they are are ready. As reading progresses some longer books do need a few days before changing and so only the books that are signed off as completed will be changed.

Common Exception Words

Please go to the homework page, link below, to download this list of words which are part of the spelling requirements for all children in the new curriculum. Year 2 must be able to spell both the year1 and 2 lists.
