Nurturing Children in a Christian Environment to Achieve Excellence

National Treasures Learning Logs

Thank you to you all for your hard work on the learning logs. I have really enjoyed marking them. After finding out so much about our amazing country from you, I now have a list of places and sights that I am longing to visit. Well done everybody and thank you to grownups for all your help. We will share them and enjoy them in topic this week.

Phonics Screening

The phonics screening for year 1 will take place in June. This is a one to one phonics check which the children have been working towards in letters and sounds. There is a link above to more information.
For extra practice in preparation visit "Phonics Play" There is lots of fun here using the free access.

Common Exception Words

Please go to the homework page, link below, to download this list of words which are part of the spelling requirements for all children in the new curriculum. Year 2 must be able to spell both the year1 and 2 lists.

Please follow the link below for eveything you need to know about Grosvenor Homework.

Reading: Just to clarify the system in Grosvenor class. Children need their yellow diary and their 2 current books every day. This enables me to add guided reading notes and monitor how the children are getting on. I usually change the books on Monday and Thursday when the children will get a new Bug Club book and a basket book if they are are ready. As reading progresses some longer books do need a few days before changing and so only the books that are signed off as completed will be changed.
