As part of our harvest celebrations, we supported the charity; 'Transform Burkina'.
This small UK based charity asked schools to raise money to provide rural schools in Burkina Faso with desks for pupils via their “Please Sit Down” project.
After the Harvest Service, the children had no desks for one lesson and parents were asked for a £1 donation which was sent to Transform Burkina.
We raised more than £60 for the charity. Thank you for all the donations.
Sensational Silly Hat Day for Franklin's Star
The whole school came in silly hats as part of a city wide event to raise awareness of Brain Tumour Research in honour of the much loved local football coach Danny Jones.
Danny, a long time friend of the school, got diagnosed with a Grade 4 Brain Tumour in 2012 and has since been raising money and awareness in the name of his son, Franklin. The charity are steadfast in their attempt to raise awareness of Brain Tumour Research, after they discovered that less than 1% of research funding is spent on brain cancer.
Sadly, Danny passed away shortly after this event, after battling the disease for three years. He will be greatly missed by many and we pass on our thoughts and prayers to those close to him.
