Meet The Teaching Team

Miss Alice Pickering (Teacher)

Miss Pickering joined the Saighton team in January 2019 as a teaching assistant, after having graduated from Edge Hill University with a BA (Honours) in Primary English Education with QTS in July 2018. Throughout her course of study, she specialised in English whilst minoring in Geography. She is excited to continue her teaching career this in Year 1 as an RQT.

During both her degree and working as a supply teacher, Miss Pickering has gained a wealth of teaching experience in both Key Stage One and Key Stage Two. Here, she served as a positive role model setting high expectations to motivate, challenge and inspire. Valuing practical, active learning and and imaginative work, Miss Pickering aims to implement hands-on, outdoor learning wherever possible whilst promoting a positive learning environment for her pupils.

Outside of work, Miss Pickering enjoys visiting National Trust buildings, cross-stitching and socialising with friends.

Mrs Amy Birtwistle (Teaching Assistant)

Mrs Birtwistle joined Saighton Primary in January 2018 as a teaching assistant to Grosveor Class having previously been a supply teacher throughout the school.

She has been connected to the school for 9 years as her 3 children either go to the school or have left to move on to secondary education.

Mrs Birtwistle's interests are mainly musical as she is a keen singer and pianist. She also enjoys socialising and family days out.
